Set yourself up for (visual) success

Creating beautiful, professional-looking photos and videos doesn’t have to be complicated. With just a few essentials, you can build your own mini home studio and take your visuals to the next level. Here are our top recommendations:

1. A Great Phone Camera

Your phone is your most powerful tool—so get the best camera you can afford. The back camera is always sharper than the front, so whenever possible, shoot with the back camera for better quality and more detail.

2. A Sturdy Tripod for Your Phone

  • A tripod is non-negotiable if you want crisp, stable shots. Here’s what to look for:
  • Magnetic ring attachment – quick, easy, and hassle-free!
  • Height – aim for at least 160cm for full-length shots and flexible positioning.
  • Wide legs – for maximum stability.

I have a tripod from Ulanzi - price/performance ratio for this one is amazing, highly suggest!

⚠️ If using your tripod outdoors, add sandbags or weights to keep it steady.

3. Ring Light with Tripod

If you need artificial lighting, a ring light is your best bet—it mimics beauty lighting, making your skin look flawless and evenly lit.

💡 What to look for in a ring light?

  • Size – Go big! At least 40cm (17") for soft, flattering light.
  • Power – Choose an AC-powered model for stronger light output (USB versions are weaker).
  • Adjustability – Get a tripod taller than you and one that tilts and adjusts for the best angles.

4. External Monitor for Your Phone Camera (Optional, But Amazing)

Want even better content? Switch to your back camera for sharper visuals—but how do you frame yourself? With a monitor!

We’ve tested the Shimbol CP5 – a 5.5-inch touchscreen monitor that lets you preview your shot in real-time.

Why it’s great?

  • Helps you pose and frame perfectly without needing the front camera.
  • Ideal for solo creators who want high-quality visuals.

My experience? For photos – Works like a dream! Sharp, responsive, and super handy.
For videos – It tends to lag, so it might not be the best option if you’re filming a lot.

5. A Beautiful Background

A clean, visually appealing background makes all the difference in your shots. Options include:

  • A neutral-colored wall for a timeless, distraction-free look.
  • A well-styled interior for a more lifestyle-inspired aesthetic.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need a professional studio—just a few well-chosen tools to create stunning, high-quality visuals from home. Invest in the right gear, find your best angles, and start capturing your most confident self. ✨
